HFA Earns Two Awards

Mike Goscinski named top lobbyist, while HFB earns Folio honors.

HFA Chief of Staff Mike Goscinski has been named one of the 2026 Leading Association Lobbyists by Association TRENDS and sister company CEO Update.

An experienced consumer and health policy expert, Goscinski was hired as vice president of government affairs in December 2022. He quickly established himself as a strong communicator and consensus builder, as he has worked closely with HFA President and CEO Liz Clark to create an effective advocacy team. Besides building important alliances with influential lawmakers in the US state and federal governments, Goscinski has also taken the lead in galvanizing a global advocacy movement with international federations and organizations such as the World Federation of the Sporting Goods Industry and the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development.

Goscinski was recently promoted to HFA chief of staff. For more on him and HFA’s advocacy mission check out our Advocacy section.

The Health & Fitness Business team also received an award. On October 6, Jim Schmaltz, HFB editor-in-chief, and Deborah Bush, designer with Holland-Mark, received an Eddie Award from Folio for the advocacy guide for the 2025 HFA Fly-In and Advocacy Summit. This collaboration produced a content-rich, visually compelling resource that helped inform Fly-In participants about industry issues and strengthen their ability to effectively communicate with policymakers.

“These honors reflect the excellence, creativity, and dedication that define our team,” Clark says. “I’m proud of the work we’re doing together—and even prouder to see it recognized on such prestigious platforms.”
