Recommended Language “The issue is no longer whether physical activity improves health outcomes. The issue is whether federal policy is organized to increase participation at scale.” “Americans increasingly want to become healthier and more active, but affordability and access remain major barriers.” Important Data Point ● 58% of non-users cite cost as a primary barrier to participation.

2. Support the Promoting Physical Activity for Americans Act Key Legislation ● S. 2303 Promoting Physical Activity for Americans Act ● H.R. 6121 Promoting Physical Activity for Americans Act Recommended Congressional Ask Please support and co-sponsor the bipartisan Promoting Physical Activity for Americans Act. If the Member is already a co-sponsor, thank them for their leadership. What the Legislation Does The legislation would establish a statutory requirement for the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services to publish Physical Activity Guidelines for Americans on a recurring 10-year cycle. Physical activity deserves the same level of long-term prioritization and implementation. Key Messages & Recommended Language “If physical activity is essential to improving health outcomes and reducing healthcare costs, federal policy should treat it that way.” This legislation is not simply about producing another report. It is about: ● Embedding physical activity into long-term federal prevention policy ● Strengthening public health coordination ● And creating durable prevention infrastructure

HFA's recommendations still protect consumers and their choices, while allowing fitness business operators to comply in a way that reflects the capabilities of today’s operational processes.
