American Council on Exercise

The American Council on Exercise (ACE) has introduced the Alzheimer’s Fitness Specialist Program to help health and exercise professionals promote independence and improve quality of life among individuals living with Alzheimer’s disease and other forms of dementia. Developed by Jonathan Ross of Funtensity, the program covers the science of Alzheimer’s and dementia, the role of exercise in supporting cognitive function and neuroplasticity, behavior change strategies for working with memory-impaired populations, safety considerations, and program design. “As the population ages, the need for compassionate, informed care grows increasingly urgent,” says Cedric Bryant, Ph.D., FACSM, CEO of ACE.

National Academy of Sports Medicine

To give fitness and wellness professionals an accelerated, affordable path to earning a college degree, the National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM) and PennWest have expanded their long-standing partnership. NASM-certified professionals now can translate their certifications into academic credits, saving time and $5,000 in tuition toward PennWest’s online Master of Science degree in exercise science and health promotion. Tuition discounts also apply to PennWest’s online bachelor’s degree in exercise science. “This initiative empowers certified professionals to take the next step in their education to unlock new career opportunities and long-term growth,” says Dave Correia, head of sales at NASM.

EGYM

A new EGYM white paper, “The Strength Shift: How Gen Z & Millennials Are Changing Gym Fitness,” highlights the influence of these populations on the market, including their preferred workouts, tech adoption habits, and strong desire for community-driven experiences. The research is based on data from EGYM’s member app, which tracks millions of workouts across its Smart Strength machines and equipment from different fitness brands. “This report shows operators how to meet younger members where they are, turn insights into action, and create experiences that keep members coming back,” says Dana Milkie, general manager of EGYM, North America.
