American College of Sports Medicine
As part of a new partnership, the American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM) is offering National Council on Strength and Fitness continuing education programs to its certified professionals to expand their learning and career advancement opportunities. Course topics range from recovery to advanced program design and are available through ACSM’s learning platform. Courses include continuing education credits for both organizations. “This partnership supports our mission to advance the credibility and integrity of ACSM-certified professionals through career-long development grounded in evidence-based practices,” says Lauren Korzan, ACSM certification board chair.

American Council on Exercise
ThA new study sponsored by the American Council on Exercise (ACE) and published in the International Journal of Research in Exercise Physiology shows that the ACE RRAMP Approach significantly improves group fitness class attendance and participant motivation and commitment to exercise. Developed by Sabrena Jo, Ph.D, ACE senior director of science and education, RRAMP is a framework for group fitness instructors that emphasizes respect, recognition, alignment, mistakes as a part of learning, and participants. Conducted by Western Colorado University’s High Altitude Exercise Physiology Program, the six-week study included 20 healthy adults.

International Sports Sciences Association
24 Hour Fitness has partnered with the International Sports Sciences Association (ISSA) to have its 250 general managers (GMs) become certified personal trainers (CPT). Through ISSA’s CPT curriculum, GMs will learn exercise science, program design, and client motivation to help their teams provide guidance to members to reach their goals. “This initiative ensures every GM can lead by example, speak the language of health and fitness fluently, and foster an environment where both our teams and our members thrive,” says Chris Schmidt, senior vice president of operations at 24 Hour Fitness.

Sports & Fitness Industry Association
Sports & Fitness Industry Association (SFIA) released its inaugural First Half Game Plan: Key Moves in Sports Participation Report to deliver timely insights for smarter, data-based decisions. Among them: In the first half of 2025, wellness-oriented activities gained popularity, with preferences varying notably by age group. Fitness dominated the chosen activities, with running/jogging emerging as the most preferred among younger age groups, while older age groups preferred working out with weights and treadmills. Among the 30 sports with updated participation data, pickleball remains the fastest-growing, with a 14.7% increase.
EQUIPMENT

EGYM
EGYM has partnered with Spirit Fitness to introduce its 3 Star Cardio Integration to Spirit’s premium 1000 Series cardio equipment. Users now can log in with RFID and sync workout data in real time to EGYM apps, and gym operators can benefit from member engagement and clearer visibility into activity trends. “This partnership helps expand our open ecosystem and ensures that more members can enjoy fully connected workouts—regardless of where they are on the gym floor,” says Tino Tsolakis, vice president of global alliances and partner strategy at EGYM.

Eleiko
Eleiko has released its next generation of barbells that include the company’s Optimal Rotation System to provide a smooth, controlled, and consistent response, regardless of load and calibrated for different types of lifting. The patent-pending Force Redistribution System reduces stress during drops, and a new, color-coded identification system simplifies bar selection. Other features include the patent-pending dual lock system, a self-locking sleeve, patented sensor integration capabilities, four precisely calibrated knurling patterns, and recessed stainless-steel endcaps that protect sleeves from moisture, dirt, and wear. Each next-generation bar is backed by a lifetime warranty.

FITBENCH
The utilization rate of FITBENCH units is now being measured by Ecofit’s asset management, which includes advanced accelerometer movement detection and vibration technology. Data shows that the average daily usage of FITBENCH units at HVLP clubs is higher than many other comparable strength units, including the leg press, preacher curl, lat pulldown, Smith machine, and more. “We’ve been working with Ecofit to give facility operators real-time data about how much FITBENCH units are used,” says Tyler Danen, founder and CEO of FITBENCH. “This helps them test units in different places to see where and when utilization is highest.”

Freemotion
Freemotion, a division of iFIT, Inc., has been named an approved fitness equipment provider for Anytime Fitness franchise owners. Freemotion and iFIT offer a combination of next-generation
and traditional cardio and strength-training solutions to enhance the member experience at Anytime Fitness locations in the United States, Canada, Mexico, the United Kingdom, Spain, and Australia. This includes its Smart Series cardio machines and GENESIS cable-based strength products. “Our training solutions empower owners to elevate their facilities and expand what’s possible inside an Anytime Fitness location,” says Mark Watterson, CEO of Freemotion.

Hydrow
Hydrow’s newly launched Arc Rower introduces HydroMetrics, an innovative training system that helps exercisers understand their progress through their HydroMetrics Index (HMI) score, which is a composite of scores across their precision, power, and endurance. “HydroMetrics allows us to analyze and distill a wealth of data to guide members to perform better using the feedback people crave to achieve results,” says John Stellato, president and CEO of Hydrow. With the same footprint as its flagship unit, the new model also features a 24-inch HD display, premium sound, and personalized workout recommendations.

Matrix Fitness
Matrix Fitness has added a new line of training accessories to help customers build complete, performance-driven spaces from a single provider. Among the 300 new products are dumbbells, weight plates, resistance bands, stability balls, and other key training tools. “With this comprehensive offering, Matrix strengthens its role as a total solutions partner, making it easier for customers to source everything they need from one trusted brand,” says Cory Miller, commercial product manager–strength at Matrix. This expansion reflects Matrix’s goal to provide comprehensive strength and functional training solutions to customers worldwide.

Power Plate
Power Plate has formed a partnership with Exos to integrate its vibration technology solutions into Exos’ elite athletic training centers, corporate wellness programs, tactical readiness platforms, and global education initiatives. Power Plate’s training and recovery modules also will be made available through the Exos app, which has 100,000 users. “By aligning our patented vibration technology with Exos’ comprehensive approach to performance and well-being, we’re delivering a new standard for readiness, resilience, and recovery,” says Steve Borre, chief operating officer of Performance Health Systems, the parent company of Power Plate.

Precor
Precor recently introduced the Breakaway Treadmill, a commercial slat belt model that debuts the P31S LED console with quick speed-jump keys. Rubberized slats absorb impact, and the Push Mode converts the treadmill into sled-style workouts for acceleration and power training, along with HIIT. The Cadence Coach provides exercisers with step-rate feedback to support pace, tempo, and training consistency. “The Breakaway Treadmill gives operators the confidence of Precor quality in a heavy-duty piece built to perform,” says Ean Reves, president of Precor and general manager of the company’s commercial business unit.
RECOVERY/WELLNESS

Mindbody
Mindbody is helping CorePlus, the Australian Pilates and yoga group, expand into the United States and grow its international footprint to 33 locations. Mindbody’s enterprise tools provide consistency across locations, simplify new studio openings, and foster a seamless member experience. Centralized solutions such as the Mindbody Corporate Dashboard and Corporate Enterprise site provide real-time performance insights and reduce administrative work for staff. “Our platform helps ambitious brands like CorePlus operate at scale so they can focus on their members,” says Kinsey Livingston, vice president of APAC sales at Playlist, Mindbody’s parent brand.

Therabody
Josh Allen, one of the NFL’s most dynamic quarterbacks, league MVP, and an early Therabody investor, has joined the company as a Therabody athlete as well as its first-ever performance advisor, contributing to product development. “Seven years in, and I still reach for my Theragun before and after every workout, practice, and game,” Allen says. “I’m excited to step into this performance advisor role to bring that same mindset and insight into product development and show people that this isn’t just about feeling better, it’s about performing better.”
TECHNOLOGY/PROGRAMMING

ABC Fitness
ABC Fitness has launched Click2Save, a retention tool powered by DXFactor’s Outcomes Micro Agents Platform that enables health clubs and studios to engage at-risk members with personalized offers. Click2Save integrates directly into the cancellation flow and provides tailored paths to stay, such as a billing hold, promotional discount, or flexible membership transfers. It equips operators to address state and federal mandates, including “click to cancel” regulations. “By simplifying processes that were once manual and compliance-heavy, clubs can lead with choice and outcomes,” says Conor O’Loughlin, chief revenue officer at ABC Fitness.

Daxko
Daxko and DXFactor have announced product integrations so Daxko clients can adopt AI capabilities that reduce churn, automate workflows, and enhance the member experience. Agents from DXFactor’s AI Micro Agent ecosystem now integrate seamlessly into Daxko member management platforms—including Daxko Operations and Club Automation—via web, widget, or API, with minimal configuration. These include Click2Save, a concierge, member audit, collections, and more. “We’re bringing Click2Save and our most effective AI agents directly to fitness businesses to simplify operations and improve retention,” says Dharmesh Trivedi, co-founder and CEO of DXFactor.

Fitness On Demand
Fitness On Demand (FOD) reports strong momentum this year as it expands its ecosystem. Now with more than 3,500 club and operator partners, FOD welcomed new content partners and uploaded nearly 600 new pieces of health and fitness content in the first half of 2025. The platform also supports seamless live class broadcasting, which gives club operators new ways to spotlight their instructors, run hybrid classes, and maintain consistency for members. Plus, the Fitness On Demand Recovery Station, launched in the first quarter, enables members to access guided warm-ups, cool-downs, breathwork, and stretching through a touchscreen hub.

Les Mills
Les Mills recently launched its redesigned SMARTSTEP, which combines innovative engineering, sleek styling, and sustainable materials. It features an all-in-one design with integrated risers that click up or down for three height settings and incline/decline use, as well as a slim, stackable profile that saves 31% more storage space compared to the previous generation, so it takes up less room on the studio floor to increase class capacity. With greater platform flex for less joint impact, the SMARTSTEP also uses 10% recycled plastic and 15% less plastic overall than the original model.

Virtuagym
Virtuagym’s new AI-powered coaching solution, MAX AI Coach, integrates into its coaching platform and library of 6,000+ 3D animated activities. Trainers can generate personalized workout plans within 20 seconds by using the client’s personal profile data and specifying training frequency, exercise types, exercise equipment, and injuries. Coaches can assign plans to clients through Virtuagym’s integrated ecosystem—connecting workouts to progress tracking, nutrition coaching, challenges, and more. “MAX AI Coach allows gyms to provide a personal coaching experience at scale, without compromising on quality,” says Hugo Braam, CEO and co-founder of Virtuagym.

Wellhub
Wellhub has acquired Urban Sports Club, a European provider of employee benefit programs, in a $600 million deal. This creates the world’s largest corporate wellness platform, serving 39,000 corporate clients across 18 countries and connecting five million employee subscribers to 97,000 wellness partners. The combined entity is available to employees of companies doing business in Latin America, North America, and Europe. “Our acquisition of Urban Sports Club is about driving high enrollment and utilization of a wellness benefit that employees will actually use,” says Cesar Carvalho, co-founder and CEO of Wellhub.
